A Returning Grace: Retrospective on the June Eclipses 2011

I would like to share two new poems that had my attention throughout May/June 2011. These poems are linked to specific gatherings I was part of here in my Wyoming Teton home, yet somehow I feel they might have relevance for the larger world. When I write a poem for an event, be it wedding/birth/end-of-life-earthly-celebration my intention is always this: What wants to be heard? I have learned this question/inquiry liberates me and the words to come forth with clarity. Thank you for reading them, ingesting them, perhaps feeling the Earth coming through to speak to us. These poems came out of the profound eclipse shifts of June.

   ~Grace: courteous goodwill~bestowal of blessings~a short prayer of thanks~

a holy love of place
has brought us here today
with wholeness in our hearts
we sense a returning Grace

   we are embedded in this land
   timeless yet eternally new
   we are wedded to this land
   constantly renewed

   as Earth we want you present
   as Earth we want you whole
   as Earth we seek to bridge
   the great divides within each soul

once a valley of outlaws and rebels
now innovators explorers all
celebrants of wild beauty
answering the vision questers call

feel the common ground below
embrace the unity of sky above
we live in this unified field
this land itself heals all great divides

   we are embedded in this land
   timeless yet eternally new
   we are wedded to this land
   constantly renewed

   as Earth we want you present
   as Earth we want you whole
   as Earth we seek to balance
   that which divides each soul

walk with your wild cousins
deer antelope great bear
hummingbirds eagles wrens
with mountain lions wolves
   ~share~

open space for each to grow
open space for each to be free
dream long-range free-range
think longevity of the whitebark trees

   as Earth we see you present
   as Earth we see you whole
   as Earth we see you balanced
   as whole and holy souls

this land has a way of shifting you
you can't remain here unchanged
destination: transformation
this gift of the Tetons remains

a holy love of place

~cambium is the living layer of tissue that links the newly forming present day tree with the ancient outerbark historical rings~perhaps a fitting metaphor for our job as evolutionary humans~

STAR SIGNPOSTS: Tracking the Planetary Weather

Note: Are you waking up a tad groggy/or longing to lounge longer in bed and return to your dreamtime/or shaking off unsettling dreams that dredge of old wounds/relationships? Astrologically this is Neptune/Chiron rising in the east as we arise each morning. No need to fret~ just pay attention. Whatever the form this aspect is taking in your life it will help you AWAKEN to your greater potential.

Feb 29: ~LEAP~What does today's chart show about what that potential leap for you might entail? The beautiful bright Venus~ruler of love/the arts/personal finance~is taking her own leap entering sidereal Aries~sign of being a pioneer/of waking up/ and at times spontaneous leaps of faith. Today these heavenly energies support our earthly calendar where once every 4 years an extra day magically appears and we can ceremonially honor and push ourselves outside our comfort zone. It's also likely your new endeavours will involve teaming up with new partners as Juno in Scorpio~intimate/financial partners~aligns with the North Node of your future destiny.Either push yourself or be pushed by the coming intensity of the Pluto/Uranus square this summer! Take that as a warning. These are not times to be timid and retreat but advance with resurrected exuberance and appreciation that YOU ARE ALIVE in these miraculous times. And there is work to be done. Let's get on with it~~

March 1: What? It's already March?! Does that shock you as it shocks me? Time will never be slowing down again as we are in a new flow of time and our job is to learn the new skills necessary~quickly~as to how to navigate with more Presence of self each day~how to live more fully in the Now. I've said it before: we are each at the helm of our own life-raft riding the Class 5 rapids. March makes its opening with a first-quarter Moon today~always a time in our monthly cycle to initiate bold new actions~so I guess you can say March is coming in like a LION~ ROAR***

March 2: If you are so inclined, the next two days would be great for completing your taxes as financial Venus opposes Saturn in Libra~partnering with your accountant or with your inner discipline to get it done. Or you could be making new alliances with creative or love partners. OR you may be deciding to separate. I report~you decide. Today there is a bit of a conflict between the intellectual Gemini Moon and the more intuitive Mercury in Pisces~its like our heart and mind are changing roles as Mercury likes to think and Moon likes to feel. So perhaps real clarity and balance can arise between these two parts of yourself.

March 3: A socially delightful Saturday awaits you if you will get out there and befriended the world. The gregarious/book store-loving Gemini Moon is in a happy trine to the Sun in Aquarius~opening to new types of friendship. AND there is this: the annual Sun's opposition to Mars. This will increase passions on all levels from bar-fights to playful combativeness to athletic prowess. Re-read my longer Mars Retrograde pieces~in the left hand column of this blog~ to discern/decide how this aspect might come to a head today for you.

March 4: The tone of this day is somewhat serious with the family/home loving Cancer Moon in a square~tension or commitment~to Saturn in Libra~build something with your key partners/or set limits~in square to Venus in Aries~your own personal desires. Don't take anything personally on a day like today, just live the truth of your own life and let others do the same. Side by side.

March 5: Feel the need to nurture/receiving nourishment from all sorts of relationships in all sorts of ways as the home-cooked-meal-motherly Cancer Moon trines Ceres in Pisces~spiritual emotional nurturing~trines Juno in Scorpio~your lover if you have one~and Sun in Aquarius~your best friends or a total stranger. Love is in the field~allow yourself to FEEL at a whole new level.

Feb 21: It is almost like a third new year today as the New Moon in Aquarius arrives. First we had Winter Solstice, which sets the stage for the coming year (read the above posted link) then the calendric New Year on Jan 1 2012 and then Chinese New Year on Jan 23 2012.

But the celestial energies today usher in the true shifts we are destined to make to save ourselves and our planet and our species. I am not being dramatic. Such is the nature of 2012.

The Sun~outer goals~and Moon~inner desires~ launch a New Moon conjunction with Neptune~imagination/art/spirit~and Chiron~healing and magic on all levels~this is a week to gather in circles of intention with like-minded cohorts, be it in ceremony or over a beer~seriously just convene and brainstorm new collaborative projects/processes that will benefit yourself and the community that holds you in its arms as you hold them in your hearts. And don't forget the over-arching key collaboration with your cohorts in the spiritual dimensions: your Angels/Guides/Ancestors/Animals. We are birthing this new reality in the physical dimension with the eternal unending support and guidance from our Invisible Friends. That's what I believe anyway.

Feb 22: Communication abounds as the Moon~what we need~collides with Mercury~the need to share ideas. AND we experience the annual fusion of Sun~illumination~and Pallas Athene~creative intelligence/strategy~one of the more amazing portals of brainstorming for the future I have ever seen. Go for it! Outline that book project or map out the future of your family/community.

Feb 23: All this hoopla of positivity I have been suggesting might also mean your key relationships are due for a big overhaul or even completion. Quite often the future can only arrive when we release the past. So today as the Sun of our spirit is in a tense square to Juno in Scorpio~stubbornness/jealousy in relationships~there might be a power struggle going on between you and someone you hold dear. And with mercurial Mercury in Aquarius always speaking with detached yet loving honesty opposing Mars in Leo~always acting from the heart's truth~the good news is nothing is being repressed.

Feb 24: The annual Sun/Chiron alignment creates the opportunity for truly magical sudden shifts or catalytic experiences that arrive unannounced in a shocking way. At some level we have a choice I sense but the key is be open to this healing celestial portal door helping you along your way today, no matter the external events. And with the compassionate Moon/Ceres alignment in Pisces~the ultimate aspect of forgiveness~nurture someone in deep need and that may even be you. "Forgive everyone everything no exception" my friend Joanne once wisely said.

Feb 25: Enjoy the tenderness of a Moon/Venus conjunction in Pisces~both the need and desire to just merge with the world in love and kindness. And go outside at dusk and witness the exquisite beauty of this celestial alignment at sunset. Much more powerful than any words can describe.

Feb 26: Make it an athletic Sunday or a day of joyfuladventure travel be it in MIND~visit your favorite bookstore~or BODY~push the limits~or SPIRIT~experience new spiritual elevations~as the monthly Moon/Jupiter conjunction currently in sidereal Aries~pioneering/adventurous/spontaneous

is in a happy trine to Pluto~intensity/power~in optimistic/futuristic Sagittarius.

Feb 27: The following may apply to you internally or externally, always know I am writing for both your relationship to yourself and your outside relationships. Marriage counselors are busier than usual with emergency calls with couples ready to stop the old patterns and initiate new strategies of caring as Chiron~healing~aligns with the eternally creative Pallas Athene~goddess of new ideas/strategies/intuition. And the courageous initiatory Aries Moon is in a lovely catalytic trine to Mars in Leo~stoking the fire of desire to GET ON WITH IT. The theme of the times.

Feb 28: Here we are at the last day before Leap Day~ a day that may literally or at least symbolically help us take that leap of faith/I like to think so and always celebrate so~to examine the past four years. Don't look back in the sense of going back but take a moment today and PAUSE and truly honor all that you have survived and how you have grown. If you are still alive there is NO DOUBT this is so, right? You are stronger than you ever imagined, right? Blessed Be.

Feb 13: I am writing this Signpost on Feb 12, the last day of sidereal Capricorn, perhaps the hardest working of the signs. No wonder I am exhausted tonight after a month-long journey of diligence and determination~Capricorn's gifts.I will post the full week on Monday evening. Thanks for your understanding. Feb 13 marks the first day of sidereal Aquarius. I think this is always why February feels like such a promising joyful month to me each year. Aquarius~sign of futuristic thinking/humanitarian causes~always beckons us toward our more compassionate~caring~unique selves. There is hope we haven't yet messed up the future. We still have a chance to open our hearts. You may have had one of those BIG dreams overnight with lots of information and because Mercury~mind~is melding in a conjunction to spacious/spacey Neptune, recognize and give into the desire to daydream or nap or lull and lollygag a bit for part of the day. And great inspiration will land at your door. Sweet dreams~

Feb 14: Today marks the last quarter Moon which is a time each month when we naturally want to completeprojects we initiated in the last three weeks so we can begin to prepare for the next surge of creativity that comes when the new lunar cycle that begins 7 days from now. If you are planning a Valentine's Day event, take note that the emotional/delving/sexual Moon in Scorpio aligns with the asteroid Juno~also in passionate Scorpio~ which rules our key partnerships. Nice! But not the lightest/lighthearted of alignments. Intensity rules the night. And continues into the coming two days.

Feb 15-16: Don't be surprised if over the next couple days both wounding and healing conversations arise~the truth is coming out~no doubt. We are entering the portal of the annual Mercury/Chiron conjunction. Astrologically Mercury governs mind/communications/all things mechanical and technological/travel. And Chiron, called the Wounded Healer, does just that. Highlights the wound~opens the door for the healing. Something in your life might be breaking down so you can release it and get on with the new, be it an updated computer, a better flight than the one you had originally booked, and a more open line of communication to those important to you~this conjunction is in a tense square to Juno in Scorpio~our most passionate partnerships that we shouldn't try to control any more.

Feb 17: Whenever Moon~what we need~squares off with Venus~what we want we might feel the complexity of these two forces fighting for expression within ourselves or with someone we are close to.The Venus/Ceres conjunct in watery Pisces longs only for emotional merging completely~no words please~but the fiery Moon/Pluto in Sagittarius MUST speak/talk/share ideas. Work with the alchemy of blending thought with feeling, fire with water~the beauty and healing of Yellowstone's hot bubbly waters comes to mind as metaphor. And the ongoing square of Chiron to Juno indicates we are in a longer cycle of working on relationship issues. Hang in there, do the work, feel the pain, and eventually experience the rebirth.

Feb 18: You've been reading me say this for the last few weeks: " NOTE: A long-ranging long-reaching harmonizing trine between Saturn~restructuring/concretizing~and Neptune~art/spirituality/imagination~is taking shape in the heavens this week and for weeks to come. In the coming year you can give form to all you have dreamed of for a very long time." TODAY the illuminating Sun is in a supportive trine to Saturn~ experience a day of ease in both discipline and givingform to your brilliant inspirations. And if you haven't already, make time to formulate a plan/set goals as much as you can given what you know.

Feb 19: This Sunday is an excellent day for all things Neptunian as we enter the annual Sun/Neptune conjunction in sidereal Aquarius. Neptune loves art/creativity/imagination/spirituality so visit the art galleries, your favorite cathedral or holy spot in nature/convene with friends~Aquarius's domain~and dream large for your community. Nap too if you are called as oftentimes the best information comes to us when we release this dense physical world and return to our spirit'shomeland~the Stars.

Feb 20: With today's diligent ambitious hard-working Capricorn Moon bringing this lunar cycle to completion before tomorrow's New Moon, you might be pleased with how successful you are at clearing the decks/desks of pesky details that you really want to finish. Do it today and then relax more tomorrow with this most optimistic of stellar cycles about to begin~the New Moon in Aquarius~where we are heading in our next evolutionary spiral as a humanity and and evolving Earth.

Feb 5: Be sure to use today's quiet sky energies andrest up for the major intensity of Saturn going retrograde..standing still tomorrow for the actual halting on Tuesday. For the last two years the day Saturn turned major global events happened. In 2010: the Haitian Earthquake. In 2011: the eruption of the Egyptian Revolution. I truly wonder what the coming days will bring for our shared planetary Field. Rest up.

Feb 6: What I say about today also holds true for tomorrow but will be greatly amplified by tomorrow's Full Moon. Kind of like rehearsing before the actual performance. Our life-giving illuminating Sun is in an exact conjunction with Mercury~memory/thinking/communicating. When these planets are fused together it's as if we are all geniuses in some way and can receive clear insightsinto our challenges. And the ongoing Mars in Leo in retrograde, encouraging a more reflective stance about where we want to put our personal creative talents, is in an opposition to Vesta in Aquarius~focus on community. This can create an inner tension:

should I take on a community cause or help a friend who might be in need~Aquarius~or help myself who may also be needing some serious attention~Leo. Since the exact Full Moon tomorrow is in the early afternoon~2:54 pm MST~be sure to do some Moon gazing tonight if clear skies allow it :~)

Feb 7: Because this particular Cancer Full Moon~the moodiest of the moody Moons~involves an opposition to the Sun/Mercury conjunction~mental brilliance~you may experience a true internal or external battle~do I act upon my feelings or do what I think is best? Both have validity and this question is completely unique to each person reading this right now. Some of you may need to take down your guard and feel more while others may need to stop the emotional drama and get more rational. Hmmmm...good luck sorting this one out!

Feb 8: Some quirky new alliances maybe lighting up your life by weeks' end as a supportive trine of Juno in Scorpio~wanting depth in your relationships~to the conjunction of Uranus~be the real YOU~and Venus~planet of love/art/personal sense of style. Andthe flamboyant Leo Moon opposes the other-worldly fantasies of Neptune. C'mon get wild with your dress/your choice of colors/and risk opening up so extremely interesting people can enter your life and you can reinvigorate theirs.

Feb 9: This Thurs*day and night promise to be of social delight with lots of joy/play/hopefully not conflicting erupting with the monthly Moon/Mars conjunction~passionate desire to express our truth.And remember the Uranus/Venus is now coming into exact climax so welcome the arrival of your original nature returning to you. We are allhealthy wild animals at heart. May we return to that original JOY~

Feb 10: Your deep desire to re-create your life with more time to play/be/cavort~definition:to jump or dance around excitedly~runs concurrent with a sense of some kind of impending responsibility as Mars in Leo is in an uncomfortable aspect to Sun in Capricorn~THE sign of responsibility. Play hard~Word hard~that's the theme of today's sky oracle.

Feb 11: Happy birthday to my nephew Forrest Stillman and my friend Jack Turner~both cool dudesborn 50 years apart. When Virgo Moon arrives on the weekend prepare to get all those pesky procrastinatable~new word~chores chalked off the list at last.Be productive. Focus on health/research/cleansing/clearing/editing your life

Feb 12: Take time this Sunday for creative visioning/revisioning your core dreams/desires/relationships. A lovely portal opens as the Moon/Saturn in Libra~serious commitments to key partners~is in a harmonizing trine to an exact conjunction of Neptune~the next big dream/artistic idea/spiritual truth~with Pallas Athene~goddess of creative intelligence/intuition/wisdom. Down load and upgrade your program from the Universal Internet. Just made that up.....I am going to experiment with this myself!
